The Yankees are riding into Friday night's contest against the Tampa Bay Rays on a five-game winning streak after pummeling the Rays last night, 10-2, in the first game of the four game set this weekend at Tropicana Field.

The offense exploded against starter David Price, who's record dropped to 9-4 in his career against the Bombers. Alfonso Soriano and Brian McCann hit back-to-back homeruns, and Yangervis Solarte also hit his first career major league homerun.

The night, however, was highlighted by the 5-4-3 triple play that the Yankees turned in the 2nd inning, after the Rays looked to be putting something together, with runners on 1st & 2nd and nobody out.

CC Sabathia had a great night as well, holding the Rays to two runs over seven innings.

Tonight's lineup against Tampa:

  1. Brett Gardner LF
  2. Derek Jeter SS
  3. Jacoby Ellsbury CF
  4. Alfonso Soriano DH
  5. Brian McCann C
  6. Yangervis Solarte 2B
  7. Kelly Johnson 1B
  8. Scott Sizemore 3B
  9. Ichiro Suzuki RF

Pitching matchup:

Hiroki Kuroda takes the mound for the Yankees today, going up against Rays left-hander Erik Bedard. Kuroda has looked pretty sharp so far this season, but has struggled against the Rays in the game, as he has a 7.36 ERA in five starts -- the highest against any club in his career.

Bedard got a chance to crack into the Rays' rotation because of injuries to key starters like Matt Moore and Alex Cobb. Tonight will be his first start of the season since being activated on Sunday.
