AAA Scranton rally falls short as the lose 6-5 versus Buffalo. With the call-ups pf Billings and Greene the team didn’t have a starter for today. So they had to get 9 innings out of the pen

AA Trenton losses 4-1 versus Akron. The team placed Tyler Austin on the D.L with a groin injury, and sat Gary Sanchez because of a hand injury. The team faced former major leaguer Kyle Davies and were basically had no chance versus him. I guess that shouldn’t be too surprising.

  • DH Mason Williams: 0-4, 4 K. Only had 8 ks all year.
  • CF Ben Gamel: 0-3, 2 K, 1 HBP.
  • 3B Rob Segedin; 0-3, 1 BB.

  • SHP Pat Venditte: 1.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, O BB, 4 K, 1/0 GB/FB 14/4 K/BB Ratio this season. Shouldn’t be long until he is in AAA, especially now that there pen is so overworked

Hi-A Tampa suffers 4-3 walk-off loss versus Lakeland.

  • CF Jake Cave: 0-5
  • SS Cito Culver; 0-3, 1 BB, 2 K
  • DH Eric Jagielo: 0-3, 1 BB, 1 K
  • 3B Dante Bichette Jr.: 0-4, 1 k
  • C Peter O'Brien: 2-4, 2 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI. Has more homeruns (7) than some of the teams in his league. 4 of the 11 FSL teams have less than 7 homers. Really should be at a higher level. I wouldn’t be surprised if he moves up soon. There’s barely any room in AA, but they can make some by pushing Segedin, or Roller up to AAA. Once the infield situation is cleared in New York things will start opening up.
  • 2B Angelo Gumbs; 0-4 2 K, Snaps 13 gm hit streak
  • 1B Zach Wilson; 4-4, 1 R, 1 2B, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K
  • RF Jose Toussen: 2-3, 1 2B, 1 BB, 1 K
  • LF Claudio Custodio: 0-3, 3 K
  • LHP Manny Banuelos:  3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2 K, 1/5 GB/FB. Was throwing 94 MPH, according to Nicholas Flammia. Really nice bounce-back start.
  • RHP Eric Ruth:   4 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 3 K, 5/2 GB/FB
  • LHP James Pazos: 1.1 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 2 K, 1/1 GB/FB

Lo-A Charleston shuts out Delmarva 6-0.

  • CF Jose Rosario: 2-4, 1 RBI, 1 K
  • RF Aaron Judge: 1-4, 1 R
  • 1B Mike Ford: 2-4
  • DH Michael O'Neill: 1-3, 1 R, 1 BB, 1 K, 1 SB, 1 CS
  • 3B Miguel Andujar: 2-4, 1 R, 1 K

  • LHP Caleb Smith: 6 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 13 K, 2/0 GB/FB. Once Banuelos gets his promotion, he should be the player that goes up. Though I suppose Vargas also might get that chance.
  • RHP Jordan Cote: 3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K, 5/1 GB/FB According to this article I found on Cote it appears that he is being moved to the pen to work on his mechanics and gain velocity. That doesn’t mean he won’t be moved to the rotation eventually, just not right now. This 3 inning stint might mean they want him to get his innings up.
